On 1st of October 2002, my wife and I went to Makati Medical Centre for an ultra sound to know how our unborn child, ianna, is doing. This time we went up to the 4th floor rather than the usual place - the basement. Now it is an O.B. who performs the ultrasound.
"have you felt any contractions lately? Or a sudden gush of fluid when you go to the bathroom?"
"your fluid level is very low."
"who is your O.B. again? I need to give her a call"
Those were the words of Dr. Manahan M.D. To our surprise, going home that night was not an option.
I stayed with my wife at the labor room since a monitor needs to be in place. We were scheduled to be at the delivery room at 9AM. Ceasarean delivery.
Since this came as a surprise, my parents brought me food for the night… breakfast - coffee and sandwhich.
Throughout the night until my wife gave birth, we were blessed to have some interns who I know personally. They have eased some of the fears of a general operation that is scheduled on October 2.
